Cyfex was created as a spin-off of ETH Zurich in the year 2000. Within a few years, Cyfex developed into a leading competency center for the development of CAD software in medical technology.
With the emergence and the world-wide dissemination of affordable 3D scanners and 3D printers, as well as affordable milling and grinding machines, an urgent need developed for the generative manufacture of work pieces that to date could only be manufactured manually.
Examples of these work pieces include earmolds for hearing aids, restorations in the field of dentistry, medical prostheses and individually adjusted shoes, in-soles or jewelry, or other products.
